JEDDA, December 27, 2011 (WAFA) - The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, strongly condemned the bill on the declaration of the occupied city of al-Quds “a capital of Israel and of the Jewish people,” Tuesday said a press release published on OIC website.
It said that Ihsanoglu regarded the bill as a “direct aggression” against the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights. He added that the legislative and administrative measures being taken by the Israeli occupation authority, with a view to altering the legal status of the occupied city of al-Quds, are “flagrant violations” of international law and international legitimacy resolutions that state that al-Quds is part of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, the release said.
It said Ihsanoglu stressed that all these Israeli procedures are both invalid and illegitimate, and called on the United Nations Security Council, the Quartet and all actors to intervene in order to end to Israel’s policies of racial discrimination against the Palestinian people and their holy places, to reject those invalid legislations, and to force Israel to respect international law and to abide by international legitimacy resolutions.Palestine News & Info Agency - WAFA
