JEDDAH, (PIC)-- The time has come for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in order to bring peace to the region, secretary-general of the organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu stated on Wednesday.
Ihsanoglu made his remarks in a press release issued on the occasion of the international day of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The OIC head reiterated his organization's support for the Palestinian people's just struggle to restore their usurped rights.
He denounced the violations committed by Israel in the occupied Palestinian lands and its persistence in killing and jailing Palestinians, taking and destroying their homes, expanding its segregation wall and settlements, and besieging Gaza people.
The Islamic leader also deplored the Israeli occupation authority for letting its settlers to go on the rampage through Palestinian towns and villages attacking civilians, destroying their property and burning mosques.
The leader highlighted that Palestine as a member of the UN and its institutions, needs all support and backing from all countries that promote justice and peace values.
