According to a report from the Alternative Information Center, the night guard was awakened to the sound of heavy stones being thrown at the theater.

When the guard went to the door, heavily armed Israeli soldiers stood outside.

The soldiers entered the theater and arrested the Adnan Nagnaghiye, the theater’s location manager, as well as Bilal Saadi, who is a member of the theater’s board.

When the general manager of the Freedom Theater and one of its co-founders, Jacob Gough and Jonatan Stanczak respectively, arrived to the theater, soldiers forced them to “squat next to a family with four small children surrounded by approximately 50 heavily armed soldiers.”

“Whenever we tried to tell them that they are attacking a cultural venue and arresting members of the theatre we were told to shut up and they threatened to kick us,” Stanczak said. “I tried to contact the civil administration of the army to clarify the matter but the person in charge hung up on me.“

In April of this year, Juliano Mer-Khamis, of both Israeli Jewish and Christian Palestinian heritage, and one of the founders of the Freedom theater, was assasinated by armed gunmen outside of the theater.
