Israeli Soldiers Open Fire, Injure Farmer North of Gaza

GAZA, July 30, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli forces, stationed at the border area north of Beit Lahiya, a town north of Gaza, Saturday opened fire at Palestinian farmers, injuring one, according to witnesses.

The farmer was transferred to hospital and reported in moderate condition.

Israel has warned Gaza residents not to come close to about 300 meters from the barrier it has built along the Gaza border with Israel, threatening to open fire without warning at anyone who enters the area declared as a buffer zone. Palestinian farmers have complained that the Israeli restriction prevents them from having access to their farming land.
