Qassam Fighter Dies in Tunnel Colapse in Gaza; 16 Arrested Including Hamas Leader in West Bank

Gaza/Ramallah – PNN – A fighter with the Qassam brigades, the military wing of Hamas, died Thursday, after a tunnel used to smuggle goods from Egypt collapsed on him.

Mohammed Rezq Juneid, 25, was from Jabalya in the northern Gaza strip, according to reports.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank, the Israeli army has detained 16 Palestinians including four children from Kober village near Ramallah, as well as Hamas leader Ghanim Sawalme.

According to reports, in a pre-dawn raid, 30 Israeli soldiers entered into the home of Sawalme’s brother, and required him to lead them to the home of Sawalme.

Sawalme, has spent 8 years in Israeli prisons, and was banned from the Gaza strip for two years in 2004. A few days after his release from Israeli prison in 2009, he was arrested by the Palestinian police and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
