GAZA, January 24, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition and tear gas on Tuesday at a peaceful demonstration near the northern Gaza borders with Israel, according to a statement by the International Solidarity Movement.

It said around 50 rounds of live ammunition were fired directly at the Palestinian and international demonstrators who were protesting Israel’s ban on Palestinians from reaching their land hundreds of meters within the vicinity of the borders.

“From approximately a 25 meter distance, live ammunition was fired by Israeli military from watch towers, along with a few rounds of gas canisters also directly targeting demonstrators,” said the statement. No one was injured.
