PLO urges continuing Arab backing to Palestine - Politics - 29/01/2012

CAIRO, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- A Palestinian official called here Sunday on Arab countries to carry on supporting the Palestinian cause, consolidating Palestinian refugees' rights and financing UNRWA.
Addressing a conference on Palestinian refugees, Zakaria Al-Agha, chief of the Refugees Section of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), urged Arab countries to provide financial support to UNRWA, which has received only USD 119 out of a total USD 350 million.
He cautioned against the Israeli continuation of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in Jerusalem.
He also condemned Israeli occupying authorities for arresting Palestinian members of parliament, and demolishing Palestinian houses.
The conference of supervisors over the affairs of Palestinian refugees in host countries kicked off at the Arab League here earlier in the day.
Delegations from Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Arab League were present in the gathering.
For his part, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Mohammad Subeih said the Palestinian people are facing an open Israeli war everywhere in the occupied Palestinian territories.
He said Israel is seeking to cut the number of Palestinians living in Jerusalem to 12 percent from 35 percent now in line with a considered plan.
He added that the Arab side has provided all facilities to Israel for resuming peace negotiations, provided that it should stop its construction of settlements.
Subeih warned that Israeli practices would take the Palestinian cause back to the zero point. (
