Palestinian Leadership Holds Israel Responsible for Amman Meetings’ Failure

RAMALLAH, January 30, 2012 (WAFA) -The Palestinian leadership Monday held Israel fully responsible for the failure of Amman exploratory meetings due to its insistence on continuing settlement activities and rejecting the two-state solution.

In a statement issued by the PLO Executive Committee after its meeting, which was held in the presidential headquarters in Ramallah and headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leadership stressed that it will continue to meet, particularly after consulting with the Arab follow up committee, which will meet in February.

It added that it will work to intensify efforts to ensure the success of the national reconciliation process, leading to the holding of elections by mid-year. It expressed hope that all parties remove any obstacle to achieve this goal.

The leadership indicated that it will complete the study of a number of political and practical options during the coming days as a continuation of the political campaign it launched on an international level.
