KUNA

CAIRO, Jan 27 Arab countries are considering to convene a meeting of the Arab peace initiative follow-up committee during the first week of February to discuss the latest developments of the Palestinian cause, an Arab League official said Friday.
Mohammad Sabeeh, assistant secretary general for Palestine and occupied Arab territories, said the committee would continue its support for the Palestinian cause until Palestine becomes a full UN member.
During the proposed committee meeting, said Palestinian President would brief the members about their endeavors to win a UN membership.
"The compass is in the right direction and matters are progressing despite the American position which hampers everything. The Arab and Palestinian side have done all they can to reach serious negotiations but the obstacle is always from Israel," he said.
"Obviously the Israeli government does not want the two-state solution but wants a one state with ethnic cleansing ...," he added.
