ALERT- Israel Places Fake Graves in East Jerusalem, Says Activist

Palestine News & Info Agency - WAFA

RAMALLAH, January 7, 2012 (WAFA) - Head of the Committee for the Defense of Silwan, Fakhri Abu Diab, Saturday said in a statement that the Israeli authorities placed over 50 fake graves north of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.

Abu Diab said that the graves were planted between Silwan and al-Aqsa Mosque apparently in preparation to take over 20 dunums in the area to establish Talmudic gardens, which will link the Jewish cemetery and two settlements in Ras al-Amoud neighborhood to Silwan and Mount of Olives.

He added that Israeli authorities installed around 320 security cameras in and around Silwan to monitor its Palestinian residents in what he described as a new Israeli invasion of personal privacy.
