Hamas Prevents Fatah Delegation from Entering Gaza

RAMALLAH, January 6, 2012 (WAFA) – Hamas Friday prevented a high level Fatah delegation from entering the Gaza Strip after holding its members for more than 90 minutes at Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing, according to one of the members.

General Ismail Jaber told WAFA that even though Hamas new of the arrival of the delegation 48 hours in advance, yet it held them at Beit Hanoun for 90 minutes and informed them that they were not welcome in Gaza. After that the delegation decided to return to Ramallah.

In addition to Jaber, the delegation included two members of Fatah Central Committee, Sakher Bseiso and Muhammad Madani, as well as advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas Rawhi Fattouh, who served as interim president of the Palestinian Authority in his capacity as speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council before Abbas was elected president in 2005.
